Leeds United want to sign Portsmouth’s top scorer Jamal Lowe this month, according to Sky Sports.

The broadcaster claimed via their live transfer blog on Thursday [03:18pm] that West Brom, Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough are also in the hunt to sign the 24-year-old attacker, who has been in great form on the south coast this season.

It is understood that Pompey are going to face a struggle to keep hold of the former Barnet winger, who has scored 11 goals and supplied four assists in 29 appearances across all competitions this term.

Good move for Leeds?

Lowe has been in great form for Portmsouth this season and interest in him was inevitable going into the January transfer window.

Marcelo Bielsa could do with some reinforcements made to his attack this month and Lowe’s form for League One high-flyers Portsmouth proves that he is someone who should be considered.

Pompey are unlikely to demand a huge amount of cash for the 24-year-old and his eye for goal is something that can be a serious asset going into the second-half of the season.

Pablo Hernandez’s move to the centre of the midfield and Jack Harrison’s inconsistent form on the right wing means that Lowe would be a solid addition.

Likely to happen?

A lot of teams are interested in Lowe’s signature and the general consensus about Leeds is that they won’t be doing much business this month.

West Brom, Boro and Forest are teams that are going to be able to spend more money than the Whites this month, but the Yorkshire club are top of the Championship table and are managed by the best boss in the league.

It’s anyone’s guess as to where Lowe will be playing come February.
