Tottenham striker Harry Kane is hopeful over handing the club a huge boost by returning much earlier than expected from his shattering injury layoff after a history of positive recovery, according to the London Evening Standard.

The newspaper claim on their website that after Spurs confirmed they were expecting their star hitman to be out of action until March, having suffered ankle ligament damage against Manchester United, Kane himself is targeting a return a little earlier after having proven his ability to come back from setbacks earlier than expected.

This is not the first time that Kane has been out of action due to an ankle injury but the English international is said to be confident of a return to action earlier than expected based on his past recovery times.

Opinion

This is potentially huge for Spurs but the fans cannot allow themselves to get too excited just yet. Yes, Kane has a remarkable record of coming back earlier than expected but that return date set by the club is not just there for show. It demonstrates just how serious a problem the England striker has suffered and while the player himself, as well as those in the stands, will be desperate to see him back on the pitch, the Lilywhites have a duty of care. Bringing him back too early is only going to make the problem worse and leave him with long term issues that could plague him for the rest of the career. As positive as Kane might be, the fans should still not expect to see him back any time soon and if he does make an early recovery, accept it for the great surprise that it is. If not, then at least there will not be too much disappointment among the fan base. One thing is for certain – the sooner Kane is back, the better for Mauricio Pochettino and his men.
