Daniel James is undergoing a medical at Leeds United after agreeing the terms of a deadline-day move from Swansea City, according to a reliable journalist.

The Sun correspondent Mike McGrath reported on his personal Twitter account early this afternoon (Thursday) that the 21-year-old winger is putting the finishing touches his United transfer.

This comes after Marcelo Bielsa admitted at his Thursday media briefing that the club were in talks to sign James.

Finally, some white smoke coming out of Elland Road. It has been reported in recent hours that Leeds were close to signing James on a loan-to-buy transfer, and Bielsa has admitted for the first time that the “significant” transfer is on the cards. United supporters who were sweating on the deal earlier in the day can now relax. James will be their club’s player for at least the rest of the campaign, although it remains to be seen what the precise terms of the deal are. It has been reported that Leeds will pay a £2million loan fee for James, with the deal to be made permanent at a further cost of £10million including add-ons if they secure promotion. That is quite a big ‘if’, even though United are top of the Championship with 17 matches of the campaign remaining. Should they miss out on the top flight, James will return to Swansea, and there must be a sense of frustration among Leeds fans that the 21-year-old is not yet their player and might never be.
