Celtic and Rangers are considering bids for Fulham’s 18-year-old midfielder Matt O’Riley, according to Sky Sports.

The report claims that the “highly-rated” youngster’s performances have also put him on the map of Bundesliga clubs, with scouts from Stuttgart, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund all following him.

They scouted him as recently as last week when he helped Fulham Under-23s beat Man United.

Championship sides Leeds and Norwich are also credited with being in the hunt for the midfielder.

OPINION

Bundesliga sides are taking a very keen interest in English players at the moment, and no wonder. Jadon Sancho is already impressing with Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea are currently fending off a big bid from Bayern Munich for Callum Hudson-Odoi. O’Riley might not be at that level but he’s not getting game-time at Fulham and he may well fancy switching if a club can promise to fast-track him into the first-team. He’s said to be “highly-rated” and is a former teammate of Sancho in the England Under-16 set-up. Leeds have a very good link between their Under-23 side and the first-team at the moment, with many youngsters successfully making the step-up. Gerrard is also a manager that knows all about youth players from his time at Liverpool. It will be interesting to see if bids come in from any or all of them, and whether Fulham will be willing to let him go.
