Chris Sutton has hailed James Forrest and Alfredo Morelos as the two key men for Celtic and Rangers in Saturday’s Old Firm showdown.

The former Hoops striker took to his personal Twitter account to deliver an instant verdict immediately after the sides were announced for the lunchtime clash.

He claimed the return of fit-again Ryan Kent is a “big boost” for the home side at Ibrox and dubbed the selection of Mikey Johnston as the spearhead for the visitors as a “big call”.

OPINION

Rangers should be the most encouraged of the two sets of supporters following the team announcements for the most eagerly anticipated domestic fixture this season. The return of Kent, who was in excellent form before being laid low by injury, should provide real impetus to the attack and take some of the attacking burden off main man Morelos. Moreover, the absence from the Hoops starting XI of Kieran Tierney, one of the outstanding players in the SPL, should provide huge encouragement for the hosts. One of Rangers’ strengths is the combination of James Tavernier and Daniel Candeias on the right flank and they should be given licence to create havoc on Celtic’s left side. Tierney has been an instrumental figure in Celtic’s dominance of Scottish football over the last three seasons and could be sorely missed by a weakened hosts, who are also without Tom Rogic, who has an outstanding Old Firm record.
