Kilmarnock goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann has aimed a dig at Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos regarding his lack of discipline.

Morelos got his marching orders against Aberdeen the other week, and Bachmann, 24, has taken aim at the star attacker – and said that the Gers allow themselves to be “provoked easily” after his sending off in the fixture.

He slammed the 22-year-old for having “no self control” in terms of his discipline, but he did add that he is a “top striker” who can stand in the way of Rapid Vienna getting a result in this Europa League fixture.

“Rangers let themselves be provoked so easily, especially Alfredo Morelos. If Rapid just wind him up a little it would not surprise me if he got a straight red card,” he said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.

“He simply has no self-control at all. Morelos is a top striker. He scores goals and there are no doubts about his quality. He is the one player who Rapid have to stop if they want to have a chance of winning.

“To have collected eight red cards before we are even midway through December is laughable.”

OPINION

Morelos clearly has a lack of self-discipline – that is as bright as day. However, Bachmann does have a point here, as he is a player that can get easily wound up despite his quality on the pitch. He has suggested that winding Morelos up is the key to a good result for Rapid Vienna, and to be honest, he is not wrong. One small thing can cause the forward to hit the roof, which may have a knock-on effect on whether the Gers progress to the next round of the competition. Steven Gerrard will have to keep Morelos on a tight leash for this match and he will no doubt issue a warning about his behaviour ahead of the encounter. It is then up to Morelos whether he will remain calm and collected – because as Bachmann pointed out, their eight red cards at this stage in the season is “laughable”.
