If there was one thing Celtic highlighted during their 1-0 loss to Rangers on Saturday, it is that they can be painful to watch going forward at times.

With Leigh Griffiths currently absent and Odsonne Edouard not the most consistent of forwards at the club, the need to sign a new striker is greater than it has ever been.

This is why the Hoops must try and attempt to sign attacker James Wilson from Manchester United – after all, it is not like he is going to get any game time any time soon.

The 22-year-old has been left behind by the likes of Marcus Rashford in the forward department, so there is no doubt the youngster is seeking a move away from Old Trafford in 2019 in order to increase his first team opportunities.

He is currently on loan at rivals Aberdeen and has so far scored three goals in three games – but it is Brendan Rodgers who should nab the young ace for himself.

Wilson has only made 15 appearances for the Red Devils since joining in 2014, which is a shame, as he once was considered to have the potential to go on and do great things.

Loan moves to the likes of Brighton followed, but he will obviously be wanting a permanent switch when his loan deal ends with the Dons in the summer.

The frozen-out player has gained experience after spending time at a number of teams, so he would be able to walk straight into the team with no problems whatsoever.

The fans are undoubtedly crying out for a striker who can share the burden with Edouard, and Wilson appears to be that candidate come the summer.

Plotting a raid for him is a no-brainer, as he is definitely Rodgers’ ideal signing.
