Celtic have tabled a bid worth £1.75 million for striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo, according to the Daily Star.

The newspaper reports on their website that Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to bring more forward options to the club, and that an offer has been made for the 21-year-old ace’s services in the January transfer window.

Bayo currently plays for Slovakian top-flight outfit DAC and has scored 14 goals in 25 appearances for the club, signing for them in March.

The report claims his ‘blistering run of form’ brought him to the attention of the Celtic scouts.

Atalanta full-back Timothy Castagne has also been identified as a transfer target, but the Serie A club are not willing to part ways with him.

Good move for Celtic?

With Leigh Griffiths currently absent due to personal reasons and Odsonne Edouard not at his best, signing a striker in January could not be more important for Rodgers. Based on his goal tally for the season, Bayo would be a incredibly good addition to the team. He would provide the much-needed firepower to the squad, and at £1.75 million, he would be a snip. The Hoops would pretty much be guaranteed the title with this swoop – and Bayo is certainly a player to get excited about.

Likely to happen?

Yes, it is likely to happen seeming as Celtic have already tabled a bid for Bayo’s services. The only thing that could hamper their chances of signing him would be if another club joined the race for him, but at the moment, there is no signs of any other club joining the party. Bayo would benefit hugely playing for club like Celtic – he would just get better and better. Fingers crossed that Rodgers completes this signing.
