Rangers goalkeeper Aidan McAdams is set to join Annan on loan in the January transfer window, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper claims that the Scottish League Two club were originally in the hunt to sign the 19-year-old starlet in the summer, but after failing to strike a deal then, they are now edging closer to getting their man.

It is understood that Steven Gerrard is happy to let McAdams leave Ibrox on a temporary deal, even though he is currently training with the first team as third-choice goalkeeper behind Allan McGregor and Wes Foderingham.

Good move for Rangers?

McAdams needs some senior game-time otherwise his development will be stunted, so letting him go out on loan in January is a very wise move by the Light Blues.

The 19-year-old is highly-rated at Ibrox, but a move to the Scottish League Two is probably a bit beneath his playing level.

Annan are fifth in Scotland’s fourth-tier, where the quality of players isn’t that great, so a loan to the Championship or League One would be much more beneficial for the Scotland Under-19 international.

Likely to happen?

It sure looks like it.

McAdams has previously made it clear that he would like a loan spell away from Rangers, and if Gerrard is open to the idea and Annan are interested, it looks like this deal is a goer.

Hopefully someone higher up the Scottish league ladder will come in for the young goalkeeper though.
