Rangers are on the verge of signing Jordan Jones from Kilmarnock, according to Rock Sport Radio host Bill Young.

The reliable broadcaster, who calls his Ibrox source ‘Dances with Bears’, claimed via his personal Twitter account on Thursday night that a deal taking Jones, 24, to Glasgow is “all but done”.

Jones has been ever-present for Steve Clarke’s Kilmarnock this season, appearing 20 times across all competitions for the Ayrshire club.

Good move for Rangers?

Jones will be a decent addition to Steven Gerrard’s squad at Ibrox, especially when you consider the fact that he is likely going to be on the move for a small fee as his contract expires at the end of the season.

Rangers could do with some extra depth on the left-wing as they have struggled while Ryan Kent has been injured in recent weeks.

Eros Grezda has also been very underwhelming while Glenn Middleton is young and inconsistent.

Jones is a proven quantity in the Scottish Premiership and a big reason why Killie were top of the Scottish Premiership earlier this month.

Likely to happen?

Jones’ contract situation at Rugby Park means that this deal is very likely to go through at some point in 2019.

Rangers could either be paying a fee to sign him in January, so they have him for the second-half of the season, or they could be sorting out a pre-contract agreement with a view to signing the Northern Ireland international next summer.

Either way, you can expect to see this deal go through at some point next year.
