Getafe want to sign Leeds United star Samuel Saiz on a six-month loan deal in the January transfer window, according to BBC journalist Adam Pope.

The reporter claimed via his personal Twitter account on Thursday night that while the La Liga side only want Saiz, 27, on a short-term temporary deal, any transfer next month will be complicated because of the playmaker having another two and a half years left to run on his Elland Road contract.

The Yorkshire Evening Post has recently reported that former Huesca midfielder Saiz wants to leave England and is keen on a return to Spain.

Good move for Leeds?

Marcelo Bielsa has not been a massive fan of Saiz lately, with the midfielder earning just one start in Leeds’ last seven Championship fixtures.

However that does not mean that Saiz is a bad player because he is definitely one of the top central midfielders in England’s second-tier and it would be a massive blow for the Whites to lose him in January.

Reports suggest that the Spaniard wants to leave the club though, and as much as it may pain some Leeds fans, there is no use keeping him around if he does not want to be there.

Bielsa will have to replace Saiz, and that could be costly because he was a bargain buy last year.

Likely to happen?

Judging by these claims, Saiz wants to go but a deal will be hard to push through.

Getafe are obviously keen, the player seems as though he is keen, but Leeds are not going to want to let Saiz go unless they know they will be compensated fairly.

According to Diario del Alto Aragon, Saiz agreed a £16,000-a-week deal when he signed for the Whites from Huesca last year.

The Yorkshire giants will surely want that to be covered in full if he goes out on loan and Getafe may not be willing to do so.

At the moment, it is hard to see if this transfer will happen, but there is certainly a chance.
