OPINION
One West Ham player who rarely gets much criticism is midfielder Declan Rice, and the youngster put in another stellar display in their 3-2 win against Crystal Palace on Saturday. The 19-year-old has fast become one of the club’s best players with his consistent performances over the past season or so, and is quite clearly a favourite on the terraces at the London Stadium. Rice was admittedly at fault for Palace’s opening goal in the …, but got straight back to his task after that. The way in which he bounced back from that error shows the kind of character that Rice possesses, and that will stand him in good stead for the rest of his career. Obviously the majority of comments from fans on Twitter relate to his performance on Saturday, but many are clearly desperate to see the academy graduate sign a new contract with the club in the coming weeks, with the ongoing stand-off worrying many involved with the club.
