OPINION
It is a measure of Mohamed Elneny’s status at Arsenal these days that he is only really wheeled out on Thursday nights. He is yet to make a single Premier League appearance this season and all six matches he has played have come on low-key occasions – in the Europa League and League Cup. Elneny is behind Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torreira, Matteo Guendouzi and Aaron Ramsey in the central midfield pecking order and there is a strong possibility he is in his final month at the club, with the January window around the corner. Judging by the comments on social media in the wake of his performance in Thursday night’s 1-0 Europa League defeat to Qarabag, many Arsenal fans are keen for their club to cash in on the 26-year-old next month. They are right. Elneny is a decent central midfielder but his level is Europa League rather than Champions League, where he lacks the ability to play intricate, one and two-touch football at high tempo.

I don’t like to Slag off players too much but Elneny was so poor tonight, he couldn’t play the game with any tempo at all, could see Willock and Ozil getting frustrated with him several times.
