Is is Groundhog Day? Mike Ashley is talking about selling the club, buyers are being linked and Newcastle United fans are being sceptical. It is about as surprising as the sun setting at night and rising in the morning. According to Chronicle journalist Lee Ryder, US billionaire (Forbes) Arthur Blank is not interested in buying the club after his name was linked to the Magpies amid Ashley’s recent comments. Is the Sports Direct tycoon really on the verge of leaving St James’ Park once and for all? Or is this just another effort to stop fans protesting, focus on the football and be hopeful about the future? Ashley has supposedly come close to selling Newcastle in the past and it’s at a point where no one will believe it until they see it. Blank’s name being disassociated with the Premier League club means that even more hope – if there was any left – has been lost. You cannot blame the Magpies fans for being so sceptical over news like this, so no wonder they many of them are saying the same thing about it.
