Bain was handed a rare start between the sticks against the impressive newly-promoted side, and the second-choice stopper put in a solid display which included a couple of brilliant saves.

Celtic fans have now been reacting to the result on Twitter, with many picking out Bain’s performance as a huge positive for the Hoops ahead of the international break.

COMMENTARY

These Celtic fans were obviously left impressed by Bain’s performance between the sticks on Sunday, and who can blame them? The 26-year-old stopper was on top of his game against Livingston, who managed to threaten the Celtic goal on a regular basis at the Tony Macaroni Arena. Bain stood up to everything that was thrown at him, and pulled off a couple of impressive saves in the process for the Hoops. The best of the lot was a stunning reflex save from Declan Gallagher’s header after a corner, although a foul had actually been committed just before the stop. The former Dundee stopper has had to bide his time this season after his permanent move in the summer, with Craig Gordon restored to being first-choice stopper after his injury last term. However, with Gordon getting on a bit and Bain in such good form, it could be sooner rather than later that we see the 26-year-old take over the reins on a more permanent basis.
