Rangers striker Umar Sadiq is likely to have played his final match for the club ahead of a mid-season exit, according to Four Lads Had a Dream.

The Gers blog, which is a very reliable source of news about the club and has broken some big transfer stories, claims the Scottish giants are set to terminate the season-long loan of the Roma forward in the January window.

Four Lads report it “doubts we will see anything more of him” and that he will head back to Italy at the mid-season point.

OPINION

Sadiq is a colossal figure – 6ft 3in tall (source: Transfermarkt) and blessed with strength and power. Sadly, he lacks the technical gifts and understanding of the centre-forward role to be menace to Scottish defences when he should be having them for breakfast. Little wonder Serie A big guns Roma were keen to sanction a summer exit for the 21-year-old, who by accident or design has managed to play six matches for their first team. Sadiq has not had an abundance of opportunities at Ibrox, just five to date, but he failed to grasp his golden opportunity in the Scottish League semi in the absence of Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty. Steven Gerrard has made dark hints about players who don’t cut it, and makes it clear he will not waste time on those he doesn’t think have the right attitude and aptitude. It is difficult any other scenario than Sadiq heading out of the club at the first opportunity that Rangers can get rid.
