Dave King delivered some fighting talk at the Rangers AGM on Tuesday morning.

It’s a much more optimistic AGM at the Armadillo this year, with Steven Gerrard delivering real hope that Rangers can challenge Celtic for the title this year.

And King was in combative mood from the off today as he sent a direct threat to Mike Ashley and Sports Direct, saying that Rangers would “never” back down to bullying from Mike Ashley and Sports Direct.

As quoted in the Daily Record, he said, “Sports Direct has done its best again to interrupt our retail operations… they drown the courts in papers that cannot be reviewed in time which allows them interim relief.

“They have consistently failed with their bullying tactics.

“There are hundreds of thousands of pounds against us but I’m confident we can get them overturned when they’re fully ventilated in court The alternative is to back down and give SD what they want and we’ll never going to do that.”

King was also asked about the Celtic ticket allocation at Ibrox and he replied with a very firm answer: “I can give you an absolute assurance the board has no intention of reversing that decision.”

Rangers fans will be hoping for some good news on the transfer front when Mark Allen talks later on this morning, but fans will love what King has had to say.

The ongoing legal issues with Sports Direct are a real concern and detract from the great stuff Gerrard is doing on the pitch, but Rangers shouldn’t back down in the face of corporate bullying.
