Celtic went top of the Premiership on Sunday but they could only manage a 0-0 draw away to Livingston.
It wasn’t a bad performance but it wasn’t vintage Celtic and there was only one standout on the pitch in Hoops – Ryan Christie.
He put in a fantastic display for Brendan Rodgers and fans flocked onto Twitter to hail their new hero after the game.
COMMENTARY
Ryan Christie has transformed himself at Celtic. In the final year of his contract and with his future looking far from certain, Christie has emerged this season as a surprise star and taken his game up a level. Fans recognised it yesterday in a disappointing game and result, despite going top of the league. He was at the centre of the game’s controversial incident too as Livingston player Dolly Menga appeared to throw a headbutt at Christie in the first-half. It wasn’t spotted and he was lucky to stay on the pitch, something that Brendan Rodgers pointed out after the game. Christie was also at the centre of everything that was good about Celtic on Sunday. One fan summed it up well when he said, “Christie is everywhere, deffo the best player in a Celtic jersey today.” Another fan called him an “animal” and pointed to one of his tackles as proof.
Here are the best reactions from Celtic fans:

I don’t reckon we’re playing as badly as some folk seem to think. We’re still passing it well at times, just need that wee spark. Ryan Christie’s still different gravy to watch.

How good it was to see #RyanChristie make nothing of the head butt. Just wish others in our game would follow his example, and stop rolling over as if they've been poleaxed.

Unfortunate comparison, but Ryan Christie reminds me a little of Craig Burley. A player who transcends physical and technical mediocrity to be in the right place at the right time. He gets shit done.
