Wolverhampton Wanderers will not entertain any offers in the January transfer window for midfielder Ruben Neves, according to the Sunday Telegraph.

The newspaper reports on its website that the club’s top brass held a meeting recently concerning their transfer plans for January, and those talks have reinforced the fact that their star asset is most definitely not for sale.

Wolves will now keep hold of Neves – who cost them £15 million – until the summer at the very least, with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Juventus circulating for his services.

OPINION

It is not a surprise in the slightest that Wolves are not going to entertain any offers for one of their best players – why would they? He has been pivotal to their success, so why would they help out any clubs in the Premier League top-six by offloading him to them? After all, he has just extended his stay at the Molineux by signing a five-year contract, so it would take a big offer to get him to part ways with the newly-promoted club. Wolves, under no circumstances, should get rid of Neves, no matter what offer they could receive for his services. He has been incredible in the midfield so obviously it is no surprise that City are one of the clubs that are in pursuit of him. Neves has established a good partnership with Joao Moutinho and it would be a shame to put an end to that, so the Wolves fans would no doubt have their fingers crossed he remains one of their players for while yet.
