Tottenham are interested in West Ham contract rebel Declan Rice, according to a very reliable source of Hammers news.

ExWHUemployee added many other clubs were interested, including Chelsea, but that losing Rice to London rivals Tottenham would be “unthinkable”.

He added that it baffles him how some people are saying that no top teams would want him and that £30k-a-week is too much. He said if it was, teams like Tottenham and Chelsea wouldn’t be keen.

OPINION
We’re not sure what West Ham are playing at over Declan Rice. They’ve obviously decided to draw a line in the sand with his new wage offer but it’s way below what other West Ham players are on, and it looks like they’re in danger of losing him. He’s a brilliant play, said to be a possible for the captaincy in the future, and if the West Ham hierarchy needed any proof of his worth, then surely teams like Chelsea and Tottenham being interested would set off some alarm bells. £30k-a-week is obviously a lot of money but not when you’re talking about salaries in the Premier League. It’s not fair to say that Rice is holding the club to ransom when he’s more looking for parity with other players. The fact he’s only 19 is irrelevant. He’s a quality player already, a full international, and West Ham need to seriously adjust their contract strategy or risk losing a player who will be worth a lot of money in the future. They don’t have long either – his contract runs out in the summer and this needs to be sorted before the January window opens.
