OPINION
To say it has been an underwhelming season for Dominic Solanke is something of an understatement. Frozen out at Liverpool, he has not had a single minute of first-team action and all signs point towards him being loaned out in the January window to get some much-needed game time. The 21-year-old, who joined from Chelsea in the summer of 2017, reminded fans, not to mention Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, of his ability with a double as England Under-21s ran riot in a 5-1 win away to Denmark on Tuesday as they extended their unbeaten run to 22 matches. Solanke’s first was a looping header but it was his second goal – a sensational back-heeled chipped finish – that got Twitter talking. Many were in awe of the audacity and execution, and there were immediate calls for him to be promoted in the Anfield pecking order, where a few notable forwards are ahead of him, not only Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, but also Daniel Sturridge, Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi.

Not everybody will agree with this but I think Solanke deserves a chance in the 1st team. He’ll bring a different element up top who can hold the ball up for others, and successful in this formation last season vs Brighton which he scored his 1st goal.
