Rangers goalkeeper Kieran Wright has revealed that he is making major progress in recovering from an injury blow he picked up while on loan at Raith Rovers in September.

Wright, 18, joined the Scottish League One club on a temporary deal in August and quickly became the number one choice goalkeeper.

However the Gers starlet has been frustrated by an injury that has forced him out of action for the last two months, but he is now back in training and is hoping to get back into the Raith first team later this month.

“I am back full training now. Planning to be training with Raith next week and hopefully I can get back in the team,” Wright said in a Q&A session via Rangers’ official Youth DC Twitter account.

OPINION

Wright’s injury blow at Raith couldn’t have come at a worse time. He was playing regular first team football in League One, appearing eight times across all competitions for Rovers before he was forced out of the action six minutes into the 1-1 draw with Montrose on September 22. Since then the highly-rated teenager has been recovering in Glasgow, but now he is finally looking as though he’s ready to get back into action. Raith Rovers have missed him since he was injured. They have lost two of their last three games in League One but they were enjoying an unbeaten start to the season when Wright was playing. Raith have also failed to keep a clean sheet in the Scotland Under-19 international’s absence. It is vital for not only Raith, but also for Wright himself to get back to fitness soon. He will surely walk straight back into the starting line-up at Stark’s Park once he is fit and ready.
