Everton are interested in bringing Man United star Ander Herrera to Goodison, according to the Sun.

The 29-year-old is out of contract in the summer and Man United could be willing to let him go in January for between £3-5m, in order to recoup some of the £32m they spent on him.

There has already been a lot of interest in Ander from around Europe and England.

The report quotes a source saying, “There’s a growing feeling here that he is ready to walk away next summer and that’s something the club don’t want.

“The club obviously want to avoid that particular scenario and are trying to compromise and get a deal done.”

OPINION

This would be a fantastic deal for Everton – especially if they can get him for the price quoted. There’s always the chance that he could run his contract down – he’s said to be owed £2million in wages between January and his contract expiring and United seem keen to recoup some money and to avoid paying this. He’s free to sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January but is said to be settled in the area and that could work in Everton’s favour. The midfielder has only made four cameo appearances this season and it seems his time at United is up. But he’s done a good job there, making 166 appearances across all competitions, and the former Spain international has scored 17 goals and registered 24 assists for the club in his time there. Prior to this season he’s made an average of 30 appearances in the Premier League each season for United, and he would provide Everton with exactly the sort of creativity they’re looking for.
