Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest played out a crazy game at Villa Park on Wednesday night, and it was a horror show for the home side’s defenders – and James Chester in particular.

Lewis Grabban put the visitors ahead after just three minutes and Joao Carvalho doubled Forest’s lead three minutes later.

Villa fans didn’t know what had hit them – especially the few that came in late – but they knew enough to flock onto Twitter to lay into Chester.

Then the game turned, Tammy Abraham scored twice to level and got his hat-trick after 36 minutes but only after Matty Cash had put the visitors in front again.

That was it for half-time put Forest picked up where they left off in the second-half, and Joe Lolley scored their fourth after 51 minutes.

Home fans were fearing the worst but a quickfire double from Abraham and substitute Anwar El Ghazi, after Tobias Figueiredo was sent off for Forest, seemed to give them the three points.

But of course that wasn’t it. Grabban popped up late on to score the visitor’s fifth in a 10-goal thriller.

Villa fans were puzzled by Chester though and one fan summed it up perfectly when he said he’d been “superb for two years and shocking this season”.
