Celtic must make an audacious move to sign Swansea forward Wilfried Bony in the January transfer window to add an extra layer of depth to their striker options.
According to Wales Online, the 29-year-old is on huge wages of at least £100,000-a-week and the Swans want to get him off their wagebill as soon as they can.
That means that the Ivory Coast international could be available when the transfer window re-opens in less than two months’ time and there could be an opening for the Hoops to go after him.
Brendan Rodgers may need to find a replacement for Moussa Dembele in January after the Frenchman was sold late in August and no one was brought in to help Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths get the goals.
Griffiths has had major issues with fitness while both the Scotland international and Edouard have had spells where they haven’t look like they are going to score.
Bony is someone who has scored goals throughout his career and against some top sides in the Premier League and Eredivisie. In 115 appearances in England’s top-flight he has scored 36 goals, so just imagine what sort of figures he could hit in Scotland.
He has been injured all season so is yet to make an appearance for Swansea in the Championship, but if the Swans ace was to move north of the border and sign for the Hoops, he would light up Parkhead and the Scottish Premiership with his clever finishing ability.
Bony would have to take a big pay-cut if he was to move to Celtic, but that would be likely with any club that attempts to pry him away from the Liberty in January.
His big-money deal expires at the end of the season anyway, so he knows that sooner or later he is going to have to accept a lesser off from another club, and why shouldn’t that club be Celtic?
