A number of West Brom supporters have turned to social media to slaughter the performance of defensive ever present Kyle Bartley after starting once again in the clash versus Derby County.

The Baggies found themselves 2-0 down at half time in front of their own fans at the Hawthorns, with goals from Jack Marriott and Tom Lawrence, coming within five minutes of each other in the opening 15 minutes, giving Frank Lampard’s men a comfortable lead.

With Derby’s Harry Wilson and Scott Malone and the Baggies’ Jay Rodriguez making it 4-1 in the second half, the fans were quick to jump on the back of Bartley, who has started all 14 of the club’s Championship games this season, for his performance against the Rams, taking to Twitter to hammer what they were watching from the 27-year-old.

This is Futbol has gathered a selection of the supporters’ tweets.

Commentary

West Brom have had the most potent attack in the Championship this season and while that has been brilliant for the fans to watch, it means absolutely nothing if your defenders cannot hold off the opposition’s forward line. The Hawthorns were given that rude awakening on Wednesday night, and quite frankly Bartley did his side no favours with a mixed bag of a performance. The fans are perhaps being a little over critical of their summer signing but there is no question that this was not his best performance in a Baggies shirt – although that could be said about most of Darren Moore’s side. West Brom desperately need to sort out their back line sooner rather than later for once it is solid and does not leak as many goals as present then they will be serious contenders for a top six spot. For now, their back line is letting them down, and Bartley is part of the problem.
