Tottenham drew 2-2 with PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday night to make qualification for the knockout stage of the Champions League extremely difficult.
It was a performance strewn with errors but Tottenham fans took to Twitter to congratulate the returning Christian Eriksen.
His wasn’t a flawless performance – he made a key mistake which led to the red card for Hugo Lloris – but he carved open the defence for Kieran Tripper to assist the first goal and put in a majestic cross for Harry Kane their second.
COMMENTARY
Spurs have missed Eriksen and many fans were delighted too see him back, with some fans saying he was the best player on the pitch for Tottenham. Another said that he was “unreal” while another said he had “complete control” in the game. It was a real shame that he made such a big mistake, giving the ball away which led to the move that saw Hugo Lloris see red. It was all downhill for Spurs from there but fans appreciated it didn’t take away from a brilliant performance from the 26-year-old. His influence was missed in the Premier League games against Huddersfield and Cardiff, although Spurs won both of them anyway. Fans will be absolutely delighted that he’s fit and back for the huge Premier league clash with Man City on Monday.
