West Brom are ready to cash in on Oliver Burke and the Scotland international is already attracting attention from Tottenham and Newcastle, according to the Sun on Sunday.

The newspaper claimed via their print edition [Sunday October 14, page 61] that a number of big clubs are looking at signing the “enigmatic” forward to see if they can tap into his potential after a miserable season and a quarter at The Hawthorns.

It is understood that Brighton are also in the hunt to sign the 21-year-old as Championship high-flyers West Brom aim to raise funds to sign Blackburn’s Bradley Dack.

Good move for Tottenham?

Burke has had enough chances to prove his worth now and there is no way that Mauricio Pochettino should be wasting money on signing the £30,000-a-week (Spotrac) Hawthorns outcast.

The former Nottingham Forest and RB Leipzig attacker has made just 19 appearances across all competitions since joining the Baggies last summer for £15million, scoring one goal in the process which came in August against Luton Town.

Since mid-September, Darren Moore has not even named him on the bench in the Championship, where Albion sit second in the table, so this is one player that Spurs should avoid at all costs next year.

Likely to happen?

West Brom obviously want to get rid of Burke, who has been nothing but a drain on resources at The Hawthorns, but that does not mean that Spurs should be going in to sign him.

Pochettino already has enough attacking options to play in the Scotland international’s position, so signing him would mean that he would just be a fringe player yet again, but this time in North London instead of the West Midlands.
