Mauricio Pochettino must bin Cameron Carter-Vickers in 2019 with the defender failing to make any sort of impression while on loan at Swansea in the Championship.

Since swapping North London for South Wales in the summer, the 20-year-old has only managed to make one start for the Swans, which came in a 1-0 defeat to Stoke at the Bet365.

He has made just one other appearance as a substitute but for the rest of his spell at the Liberty, Graham Potter has regularly named Carter-Vickers on his bench and has not used him.

Where does that leave Carter-Vickers and Tottenham?

The five-times USA international is clearly not Premier League level, which is why he was sent out on loan to Sheffield United and Ipswich last season, but he is also clearly not top-end Championship level with him enduring a woeful start to the campaign with Swansea.

That means that he will never make it at Tottenham and Pochettino should look to offload the defender next year once his loan spell at Swansea expires.

The 6ft tall (transfermarkt) defender is under contract at Spurs until the end of the 2020/21 season, so the club should be able to pick up a decent profit on him if a team from the Championship is willing to sign him up permanently.

Given the fact that he has had three clubs in the second-tier over the last 12 months, it should not be difficult to raise interest in him.

It is just a shame that he is clearly never going to make it with Spurs but it is best for all parties if he is moved on next summer.
