Celtic are set to start four hardly-ever-seen players this season in tonight’s (Thursday) Europa League showdown against RB Leipzig, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper claim fringe men Eboue Kouassi, Jozo Simunovic, Lewis Morgan and Ryan Christie are all set to start in Germany due to the club’s growing injury list.

The Scottish Sun report in-form centre-back Filip Benkovic now looks set to miss out after sustaining a knock and is set to join crocked trio Scott Brown, Tom Rogic and Leigh Griffiths alongside suspended James Forrest on the sidelines.

OPINION

Celtic have never won a European tie in Germany in 11 attempts and they have their work cut out trying to reverse that wretched record this evening. They will have to do so without five men who would have been almost certain starters, and it means Brendan Rodgers and his coaching staff having to rely upon players who have barely figured this season. Between then, Kouassi, Simunovic, Morgan and Christie have started just four leagues matched in the entire campaign, a cumulative tally which demonstrates how far they are down the pecking order. An already difficult assignment against the club placed fifth in the Bundesliga is now taking on epic proportions. Can Rodgers summon top-level performances from players he has hardly rated up to now, and who have been fringe men for the entire campaign to date. What a match for January signing Morgan to make his full debut, and for Christie to demonstrate that he is more than just a big-part Bhoy.
