A section of Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to show that they want to club to re-sign Norwich forward Steven Naismith.

The 32-year-old is currently on loan at Hearts until the end of the season and has scored 11 goals in 15 appearances across all competitions for the Scottish Premiership leaders this term.

Some Gers fans believe that he should be snapped up to add extra strength in depth to their attacking options, with one supporter saying it would be a “no-brainer” to get the ex-Ibrox ace back in Govan.

OPINION

It is bound to be an idea that splits opinion among the Rangers fanbase but Naismith would be an excellent signing if they could get him in January, however the issue is that they probably can’t. Naismith is on loan at Hearts until the end of the season and there has been no suggestions that Norwich can recall the player in January. Rangers could try to sign the striker but they may have to wait until next summer when he becomes a free agent, unless Norwich offer him a new deal. That is why Steven Gerrard should not bother with the ex-Ibrox striker. He burned a lot of bridges when he left the club, calling Rangers a new club after their financial meltdown in 2012. A lot of other fans won’t forgive him for that and by the time he is available for transfer, Gerrard will be able to sign someone younger and better.
