Matt Le Tissier has hailed Tottenham star Christian Eriksen as one of his favourite players to watch in the Premier League.

Speaking to the Sky Sports website, the Southampton legend and high profile pundit admitted he is a big admirer of the Denmark international, who delivered a man-of-the-match display in Wednesday’s 2-2 draw against PSV Eindhoven.

Le Tissier was one of four Soccer Saturday pundits asked who of Eriksen and David Silva he would want in his side as the playmaker ahead of next Monday’s Premier League clash between Spurs and Manchester City.

“This is very tough as these are two of my favourite players to watch in the Premier League as they have both got tremendous skill and make the game look so easy, but Silva is just that bit better at the very top level for me although it’s a really close call,” Le Tissier told Sky Sports.

OPINION

It’s impossible not to admire Eriksen, a true artist of the game who conducts the Tottenham orchestra and is capable of doing things no one else at the club can. Spurs have been pretty average this season, despite churning out some rock-solid league results, and the great Dane is the one man with the invention, vision and creative pizzazz to lift them from the good to the very good. He is perhaps second only to Harry Kane in terms of importance to the team and the club must do everything they can to ensure he signs an extension to his contract, which expires in the summer of 2020. With just over 18 months left, that is becoming a matter of priority. Nevertheless, Spurs fans will be heartened that the playmaker is back to his best after nearly a month out with a stomach injury. He was outstanding in last night’s 2-2 draw against PSV Eindhoven, creating the opener for Lucas Moura and then assisting the second for Harry Kane.
