Celtic travel to RB Leipzig for their Europa League game on Thursday night and Charlie Nicholas believes Brendan Rodgers’ men will come back empty-handed.

Writing in his Sky Sports column Nicholas said, “I worry for Celtic here. I do not really fancy our chances as the German side have proven to be really strong at home and we all know Celtic can struggle away from home in Europe.”

Nicholas predicted that the score would be 2-1 to Leipzig.

COMMENATRY

This would be a tough game with a full-strength side but Rodgers has big problems in his team. Tom Rogic, Scott Brown and Leigh Griffiths are all out and there’s a doubt over Filip Benkovic. That severely weakens his options and although he might not really be expecting to get anything out of tonight’s game, it will leave them with a mountain to climb in the remaining three games. RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig lead the way and Rodgers will know he’ll probably need to beat them both at home to have any chance of qualification. A draw tonight would be a fantastic result and leave Celtic on the same points as their German opponents, but Nicholas doesn’t believe they’ve got enough to get a result away from home in Europe. The game is the early kick-off this evening, with Celtic kicking off at 5.55pm. Celtic’s rivals Rangers player later at home to Spartak Moscow.
