Aaron Ramsey has confirmed that he will not be joining Tottenham once his contract at Arsenal expires at the end of the season.

The 27-year-old has admitted that he remains in the dark about his contract situation at the Emirates and as it stands, the Wales international will be a free agent next summer.

Some Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to say that they would want to snap up the midfielder, however Ramsey has laughed off the idea of switching between the two North London rivals.

“Well, there is no contract on the table at the moment so there is nothing for me to consider or whatever,” he said, as quoted by the Mirror.

When he was asked if he would sign for Spurs, Ramsey laughed and gave a one-word answer: “No.”

OPINION

It was never going to realistically happen, but Ramsey would have been an amazing signing for Tottenham even if he would be crossing the North London divide to arrive from Arsenal. Mauricio Pochettino could find himself without Mousa Dembele next summer and he is definitely going to need an extra central midfielder to add to his squad. Ramsey is not exactly the same type of player to the Belgian, so would not be a straight replacement, but extra bodies are needed regardless and the Wales international would have been ideal. Even though Ramsey will be available for free, his wages demands could be huge. According to statistics website Spotrac, he is earning £110,000-a-week at the Emirates and only a select few Premier League clubs would be willing to offer him that. Arsenal should be offering the midfielder a new deal as soon as possible but it does not look as though they will, which is going to be a massive mistake.
