Manchester City will look to get their Champions League campaign back on track on Tuesday when they travel to Bundesliga side Hoffenheim, and Pep Guardiola must make just two changes to his starting XI.

City suffered a massive upset in their opening match of the competition as Lyon ran out 2-1 winners at the Etihad Stadium in a result which few would have foreseen.

Their form in the Premier League has however been perfect since then with two comfortable wins coming either side of a victory in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

Guardiola fielded a strong side at the weekend against Brighton and must do so again tomorrow to guarantee that their poor start in Europe does not get any worse.

In goal, Ederson must start as normal.

A back four of Kyle Walker, Nicolas Otamendi, Aymeric Laporte and Oleksandr Zinchenko must all retain their places.

In midfield, a trio of Fernandinho, Bernardo Silva and Ilkay Gundogan must be chosen, with David Silva dropping out of the team. The introduction of Gundogan will give City more stability in midfield and provide a solid base to launch attacks.

In attack, Leroy Sane and £60million man Riyad Mahrez must occupy the wide areas, meaning £180,000-a-week star Raheem Sterling is axed [Total Sportek]. This would be a rare start for the 5ft 10in Mahrez [Transfermarkt], who has begun just three games in all competition so far for City.

Finally, Sergio Aguero must be leading the line as usual. The Argentine had been an injury doubt but has travelled to Germany after training with the squad.
