Tottenham Hotspur are behind Chelsea in the race for Dutch teenage sensation Sam Lautenschutz, according to The Sun

The newspaper report that the Blues are in pole position to sign the 15-year-old midfield talent from second-tier side Volendam, with a decision expected on his future this month.

The Sun claim that the youngster is also being watched by Leicester City, Charlton Athletic and Eredivisie giants Ajax, with Lautenschutz currently impressing at Under-17 level.

Good move for Tottenham Hotspur?

Yes.

Lautenschutz is obviously a huge talent, with some of the country’s biggest clubs keeping tabs on the 15-year-old’s progress.

Tottenham’s academy has been going from strength to strength in recent years, and the addition of another young talent would obviously help to continue that.

Likely to happen?

It looks like Chelsea are in the best position to snap up Lautenschutz at the moment, but there is no suggestion that the Blues are nailed-on to win the race.

Tottenham could have a trump card in their pocket here in the fact that Chelsea do not have the best reputation in developing young players and handing them chances in the first-team.

Spurs’ reputation is almost the opposite at the moment, with Mauricio Pochettino known for his willingness to blood young players when they are ready.
