Man United legend Paul Scholes has claimed that rivals Liverpool and Man United are laughing at his former side, and has said that manager Jose Mourinho is a shadow of his former self.

Talking in the Sun, Scholes has launched another attack on Mourinho after a terrible start to the season and an internal feud with Paul Pogba.

“I loved watching his interviews, his cockiness. I thought he was brilliant,” Scholes said, “but that Jose has gone. Now it’s just a moaning Jose which frustrates you. He’s moaning at his players and what he hasn’t got.

“I feel like we could sign Lionel Messi at the moment and he’d struggle in this team.

“I feel people at Liverpool and Man City are looking at us and laughing like we did at them.”

OPINION

Scholes is really laying into Mourinho although he didn’t go as far as to say that Man United should sack him. He ended by saying that Mourinho is one of the best coaches in the world and that he needs to start proving it now instead of moaning. There’s a lot of truth to this and it’s hard for any Man United fan to sit and look at where their side is in the league and the football they’re playing, with the amount of money they’ve spent, and say they’re happy. Is it Mourinho’s fault? He’s certainly not without blame and when you’ve got a man with such a big ego in charge of your team there’s always the possibility of big problems. When things are going well then Mourinho is a great manager. When there are problems he always seems to blame others and some of the bigger United stars aren’t having it.
