A section of Nottingham Forest fans have taken to Twitter to slam Liam Bridcutt for his performance in the 3-2 defeat to Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium on Tuesday night.

Bridcutt, 29, conceded a penalty in the first-half but his blushes were spared when Brewers forward Liam Boyce blasted the resulting spot-kick over Luke Steele’s crossbar.

Some Reds supporters were furious with the Scotland international, with one claiming that he “sealed his January departure” with his horror show in Staffordshire.

COMMENTARY:

These Forest fans are absolutely furious with Bridcutt and having watched his performance, you can see why Aitor Karanka has barely played the defensive midfielder this season. Giving away the penalty wasn’t even the worst part of his display, that’s how bad Bridcutt was. When Burton scored their second goal, he was too busy throwing his arms up in the air calling for a handball rather than trying to win the ball back. It’s basic – play to the whistle. A lot of Forest fans should be apoplectic with the former Leeds midfielder for that and given how many midfielders Karanka has, it would not be a shock to see him put Bridcutt up for sale in the January transfer window. Claudio Yacob must be wondering what he is doing at the City Ground because if he cannot get a game over Bridcutt then there is no hope for the yet-to-be-seen Argentine.
