A section of Liverpool fans were blown away by the performance of Harry Winks as Tottenham lost 1-0 to Manchester City at Wembley on Monday night.

Winks, 22, came off the bench for the last 23 minutes of the game and had a huge impact for Spurs as they pressed for a late equaliser against Pep Guardiola’s side.

Unfortunately for Tottenham they failed to produce a goal, but some Liverpool fans took to Twitter to rave about Winks for his performance off the bench, with one even telling the Anfield club to sign up the England international.

COMMENTARY:

Winks was very impressive in his cameo performance against City and Mauricio Pochettino should have realised that the midfielder should be starting games more often. It just goes to show how good the 22-year-old performed if he had scores of Liverpool fans waxing lyrical about him on social media. Liverpool supporters aren’t known for giving positive reviews on Tottenham’s players so Winks definitely did something right to have them singing his praises. It may help that the midfielder is a young England midfielder and someone who could be a mainstay under Gareth Southgate in the future, but either way, he was very good against Man City are regardless of his nationality, he should be praised for his outing. Winks will probably start against West Ham in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, will more Liverpool fans be calling for Jurgen Klopp to sign him up after that game?
