Some Swansea City fans showed no sympathy for winger Jefferson Montero after the club confirmed he had suffered an injury which ruled him out of Saturday’s match with Nottingham Forest.
The Swans posted a brief message via their official website to confirm that the club had suffered an injury blow as the 29-year-old winger was set to miss between four and six weeks of action after picking up a thigh injury in training.
This prompted a section of Swans supporters to respond in an unsympathetic way with one claiming that if Montero was wrapped up in cotton wool he would still find a way to get injured.

OPINION
Montero has all the tools in his locker to light up the Championship for The Swans but clearly he just can’t stay fit enough to do so. The 29-year-old winger showcased some of his talents in his opening four games of the 2018/19 season with his display against Millwall in his last outing being a highlight. Montero tore Millwall apart, registering two assists in the process, and was one of the reasons why the Swans secured a 2-1 victory over their Championship rivals. However as one fan pointed out Montero has constantly been a frustrating figure for fans as no matter how little he is used, it’s not long before he is confirmed to be stuck on the sidelines through injury. This means that the winger simply can’t be relied upon this season despite his ability to be a match-winner as no one can bank on him staying fit anytime soon. While supporters no doubt hope for the best for Montero, they clearly are fed up of seeing his name on the injury list.
