Many West Bromwich Albion supporters on social media reacted positively to attacker Wes Hoolahan being confirmed as the club’s last signing.
West Brom revealed via a brief statement on their official website that the club had agreed a short-team deal with the 36-year-old in order to welcome him to The Hawthorns.
The Baggies’ short post shared that Hoolahan had signed a deal with the club and that Darren Moore’s side had an option to extend his stay in January.
Upon reading their club’s official update, several Baggies supporters praised their club for adding the experienced attacking midfielder to Baggies’ squad with one claiming he was going to help them win the league.
OPINION
Hoolahan is a wise signing for the Baggies to make even if some may roll their eyes over his age. The 36-year-old will provide strength in numbers and provide Moore with useful cover when it comes to his midfield options. While one fan claims that Hoolahan is going to help the Baggies lift the league title this season, perhaps he should calm their belief in the veteran’s ability just a little bit. Last season Hoolahan was a regular fixture for Norwich City as featured 34 times across all competitions but he did show some signs that perhaps age was catching up him. While the midfielder shone in some matches, he did end the campaign with two goals and four assists, there were times when his displays had you questioning why he was playing. Hopefully with him likely to be cover for the Baggies and used sparingly, it will allow him to always deliver high-quality performances as perhaps it was the demand on being relied upon at Carrow Road that had him struggling.

I’ve been a critic of the Albion short term deal’s of the last few seasons but the Wes Hoolahan deal is spot on in my opinion. Could work out, might not. Either way, it’s a win/win. #wba
