A section of football fans have taken to Twitter to destroy Harry Kane for his performance in England’s 2-1 defeat to Spain on Saturday night.
The Tottenham talisman skipper the national team but could not stop them falling to a Nations League defeat at Wembley despite Marcus Rashford putting them 1-0 up after 11 minutes.
Many supporters were critical of Kane’s display on social media, with comments including “off the pace” and “he hasn’t turned up”.

COMMENTARY:
What’s up with Harry? Spurs fans have been asking that for a while, and now England supporters are joining in with the chorus on the feted 25-year-old who is the key man for club and country. The national team’s skipper was once again used in a deeper role by Gareth Southgate as he played just off Marcus Rashford in the 3-5-2 formation that brought such success in the summer. Kane has been used similarly by Tottenham this season, with Mauricio Pochettino also utilising the pace of Lucas Moura to spread mayhem. The net result for Kane, who has the skill-set to lead the line or drop deeper and design the game, is that he is not getting as many goal-scoring chances or as close to goal often enough. Many fans and commentators have noted that his shots-per-match ratio has reduced since he returned from an ankle injury in March. It is looking more and more likely that Tottenham brought their goal machine back into the team far too quickly, and the player is not quite the same.

Harry Kane wearing golden boots tonight is a bit of an embarrassment. Would’ve been okay if we’d of actually won the World Cup. #ENG
