Former Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Steve Bull has heaped praise on his old club for the way they have started their season upon their return to the Premier League.

Bull – who made 474 appearances for Wolves during his 13 year spell at the club – has heralded the way that his old club have started upon their return to the Premier League, which he adds is down to the way boss Nuno Espirito Santo sets up the team.

However, he also believes that it will take a while for the Midlands club to adapt to the top-flight once again, whilst also delivering his verdict on striker Leo Bonatini.

“Opponents will struggle playing us at home and that is down to the incredible atmosphere from our fans and the way Nuno sets up the team,” he wrote in his column for the Express and Star.

“I have seen us improving from day one in the Premier League, which is great to see. But it will take time to adapt to England’s top flight. However, we have already started doing that – we just need to get a win on the board as soon as possible now.

“It was good to see Leo Bonatini end his goalscoring drought. It is hard when you are suffering that as a striker and you are just hoping for a bit of luck to turn it around. After scoring, he would have said to Nuno ‘I am here ready for you, I will be here to score goals’. That will have done him the world of good.”

OPINION

Bull has got it spot on in his praise of his former club. Like with any club that gets promoted, it does take time to adjust to the style of the Premier League, but like he said – they have already shown that they can do that. Their 1-1 draw with Manchester City last weekend was a fantastic result for them, as it is not often that a newly-promoted side manage to grind out a point against the current league champions. Wolves have already had a taste of life in the Premier League a few seasons ago, but this team is relatively different to then, and they have a new manager on board as well. It would be hard to see Wolves go down this season based on their recent displays, and they certainly have the attributes to establish themselves as a top ten team in the foreseeable future if they continue the way they are.
