A number of Liverpool supporters were left going ballistic at goalkeeper Alisson Becker after his massive error allowed Leicester a chance to score in their Premier League clash on Saturday.

Goals from Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino had given the Reds a comfortable lead away at the home of the former top flight champions, but the 25-year-old shot stopper gave the Foxes the opportunity to find a way back into the game single handedly.

Having been passed to by Virgil van Dijk, he was caught in possession in the box by Kelechi Iheanacho after trying to turn out of trouble, and the striker slipped the ball to Rachid Ghezzal who went on to net an easy goal.

The Anfield faithful were absolutely raging with his mistake on Twitter, with some even comparing him to Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius, who have both been known for their errors between the sticks.

This is Futbol has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ tweets:

Opinion

Dear oh dear Alisson – these lot have a right to be fuming with your display. The Brazilian shot stopper put the Reds’ perfect start to the season at risk with his antics and you could see from the way Leicester took charge of the clash after their goal what an impact it had. He has some apologising to do to his team mates and manager Jurgen Klopp, and it is time for the German boss to take him by the collar and have a stern word about his consistency between the sticks. He got away with a similar incident against Brighton last week but this time it came back to bite him. Perhaps, as some of the Liverpool fans are hoping, it will act as a little dent to his confidence and ensure that he does the basics rather than messing about on the ball. If he continues to make such silly errors, Liverpool will end up paying the price, and after Karius’ errors in the Champions League final last season, the last thing they want is for one man to throw away their chances of success, be it in the league or the cups.
