Wolverhampton Wanderers’ legend Steve Bull has called upon top players at the club to stay loyal, despite interest from elsewhere.

He believes that is no surprise that players like Ruben Neves are attracting the likes of Manchester City, according to the Sun, but Bull has called upon players like the Portugal international to remain loyal to the club.

Bull – who made 474 appearances for Wolves – added that the club has made some big investments this summer, but he is glad to see players of Neves’ calibre grace the Molineux pitch.

“It is no surprise to hear Ruben Neves linked with the likes of both Manchester clubs and Paris Saint Germain. But we will hear about other players linked with clubs elsewhere over the season – that is part of the business,” he wrote in the Express and Star.

“The players that we have brought in are massive investments. Those like Neves, we have never had them at Wolves before and it is good to see. Now the players have to stay loyal to us.

“[They should] say ‘Wolves can be as big as the likes of Manchester United, City, Chelsea and Arsenal and we may as well stay where we are’.”

OPINION

It comes as no surprise that Bull wants players like Neves to remain at Wolves – why wouldn’t he? Neves is clearly one of the standout players in the team, and he is someone that boss Nuno Espirito Santo will want in his team for years to come. He is only 21-years-old, but Neves definitely plays with the experience of someone far beyond their years. It is easy to forget that he is still so young, but it is not surprising that he has some admirers. Wolves will have a tough job to keep hold of him in the January transfer window, and Nuno must convince him to stay at the club, especially if they are a decent position in the Premier League. Nevertheless, Bull is right – players like him must stay loyal to the club. They must not get carried away with the interest they are getting from elsewhere, and focus on the job in hand – securing Wolves’ survival.
