Tottenham Hotspur suffered Champions League heartbreak as Inter Milan fought back from behind to win 2-1 in their opener on Tuesday, and many fans have taken to Twitter to tear into left-back Ben Davies for his display.
Tottenham took a while to get settled into the contest with Inter having the best of the early exchanges, but Mauricio Pochettino’s men improved massively towards the end of the first half.
Many Spurs fans on Twitter have reacted negatively to Davies’ performance at left-back, with the Wales international receiving a lot of abuse for his display.

OPINION
These Tottenham fans are pretty incensed by Davies’ display against Inter, and in many ways you can see where they are coming from. The Wales international was caught out in defence several times in the first half and looked seriously shaky at the back. That is usually the best part of Davies’ game so to see that will have been worrying. He also failed to offer much at all going forward for Spurs down the left, and overall it was a poor display. However, some of the comments here seem unnecessarily harsh, with Davies having been a quality player for the club over the past year or so. He is still young at 25 years old and will still have a lot to offer the club going forward into the season. That being said, you do feel as though Danny Rose is getting more of a look-in so far this season for Spurs, and should he find some form then he will likely take the first-choice left-back spot in the long-term.
