Alexis Sanchez will have thought he was moving onto bigger and better things when he completed a move to Manchester United from Arsenal in January this year.

Early signs were promising as he led the Red Devils to the FA Cup final, but it has been all downhill since then with Jose Mourinho’s side falling apart at the start of this term.

Sanchez has cut an unhappy figure under the Portuguese and was axed completely from their squad in their 3-1 loss to West Ham in the Premier League this weekend.

And, according to the Daily Star, United will now look to offload Sanchez as soon as they can, with Mourinho having lost patience with the Chile international.

Obviously the 29-year-old will not come cheap, having joined United on a four-and-a-half-year deal in January, but Arsenal must look to secure a sensational return for their former favourite, who earns £18.2million-a-year at Old Trafford.

There will be those Arsenal fans who do not want to see Sanchez anywhere near their club after his exit last January, but many would welcome his return.

The Chilean was a fantastic performer for the Gunners over his three-and-a-half season spell at the club, and was their main man for much of that time.

He saved them on countless occasions over the years, and they have him to thank for much of their success during that time.

To see him return just a year or so after his exit would be a huge boost for the club as they look to rebuild under Unai Emery, who would have a real star on the books.

Having Sanchez at his disposal in attack would be a huge asset for Emery, and would undoubtedly help Arsenal in their quest to break back into the Premier League top four.

It would not be a move that goes down well with everyone, but it is one that the club should definitely look to make if Sanchez does end up leaving Old Trafford in a swift exit in the near future.
