A section of Manchester United fans have taken to Twitter to lay into Victor Lindelof despite their team’s 3-0 Champions League win against Young Boys on Wednesday night.
The Sweden international, 24, played the full 90 minutes of the clash in Bern as a Paul Pogba double and Anthony Martial strike got United’s European campaign up and running.
Many United fans expressed concern over the reliability of Lindelof despite the team’s clean sheet.

COMMENTARY:
Lindelof might claim he can’t win. Play well, keep the back door shut and contribute to a comfortable win for his team and still the critics load their fire at him. However, the United supporters do have a point. The Swede’s performance was not masked by the 3-0 scoreline, which flattered the visitors. Young Boys played with some vigour and fashioned an impressive 18 attempts on goal to United’s 16. At least three of those chances could have resulted in goals but they did not possess the individual class of a Pogba – whose composure and accuracy brought the opening goal – or the excellence of David De Gea in goal. This win papers over the cracks of the issues in the United defence. Lindelof is comfortable in possession but he is awkward in the air and makes far too many errors for a £30million centre-back in a team with title pretensions. His partnership with Chris Smalling is nobody’s idea of the short, medium or long-term answer to United’s defensive issues.

I still don't trust the synergy and cohesion of Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof's central defense partnership. Perhaps they can better, but Eric Bailly still remains our best central defender. #MUFC

Lindelof a liability for gods sake – all over the place again and always wrong side of man – shaw getting better and better

10/10 is a bit much, but he was very good. Can’t escape the feeling he’ll cost us but hard to argue with him being in the side after Brighton. Lindelof still looks short.

Agree with 3 of the 4 . But the word Defender beside the name of Lindelof NEVER. He’s just a step up from Prunier and Mal Donaghy. I’d be amazed if he was still at club this time next year .

Don't know how @D_DeGea feels but Smalling and Lindelof have me a bag of nerves

After the Spurs game, a journo said it’s hard to criticise Lindelof as he just doesn’t belong at this level. And he’s right. Wait til we play quality opposition again, he’s the worst defender we’ve ever bought Imo

Dalot and Shaw as our Full Backs give us such a better balance.
Lindelof still a huge concern.— Andrew Simpson (@acs_immo) September 19, 2018
