Aston Villa are reportedly working on deals to secure three new signings – and fans have gone into meltdown on Twitter.

Birmingham Mail correspondent Gregg Evans revealed on his personal Twitter account the Midlands giants have “agreed” deals for winger duo Yannick Bolasie and Anwar El Ghazi, and could also land a new striker before the window shuts.

Villa supporters took to social media in their droves to express their delight, with comments including “boom”, “unbelievable” and “wow”.

COMMENTARY:

Little wonder Villa fans are happy. Bolasie and El Ghazi are marquee signings who should walk in Bruce’s team once they are fully fit and up to speed. That might take a few weeks as neither have been in the starting XI at their current clubs, Everton and Lille respectively. But once they get the miles in the legs, they have the potential to take the Championship by storm. Villa supporters are delighted at the statement of intent from the club’s hierarchy so soon after the takeover, and in the wake of a dreadful summer that threatened the club’s very existence. There has been some concern expressed about the need for defensive reinforcements, particularly at centre-back and left-back. But it appears manager Steve Bruce is looking to overwhelm opponents with aggressive attacking play as he plots a path back to the Premier League after three seasons in the second tier.
