Wolves centre-back Danny Batth could move on loan to Sheffield Wednesday before the end of the month, according to Sun reporter Alan Nixon.

The reliable journalist claimed on his personal Twitter account on Thursday morning that it is a possibility for Batth, 27, to head to Hillsborough when responding to a rumour on social media.

The 6ft 3 (transfermarkt) defender would have to be a loan signing if the Owls were to sign him up as EFL clubs are only able to agree temporary transfers between now and the end of August.

Good move for Wolves?

Batth is nowhere near Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans at the minute as he has not even managed to get on the bench in the club’s first two Premier League fixtures.

The 27-year-old was a fringe player at Molineux last season as they won the Championship title, appearing just 16 times in the league, so it would make sense to try and get him off the wagebill with a loan deal before the end of the month.

Sheffield Wednesday would be a good destination for the Wolves club captain.

He is bound to get plenty of football with the Yorkshire club, who he has been on loan with earlier in his career.

Likely to happen?

Nixon reports that there is a “possibility” of the move happening, but given the fact that Batth isn’t getting anywhere near the squad at Molineux, there is a good chance that Nuno will sort out a loan for him.

A lot will probably depend on how much of the centre-back’s wages that Sheffield Wednesday are prepared to pay.
